After eight hours of wrestling in a noisy and jam-packed gym, the Wood River Middle School wrestlers from Hailey grappled to 39 individual wins Saturday at Robert Stuart Invitational in Twin Falls.

For the first time in recent memory, Wood River's seventh-grade squad carried home first-place hardware. Twelve teams competed. They were American Falls, Buhl, Burley, Declo, East Minico, West Minico, Gooding, Jerome, Kimberly, O'Leary, Stuart and Wood River.

Taking individual first-place medals and remaining undefeated were Cooper Bailey, Kyle Clark and Marshall Reyburn.

Individual stats: Rudy Chavez 2-2, Kaleb Guisasola 1-2, Colby Guisasola 3-1, Cooper Bailey 4-0, Kyle Clark 3-0, Kris Dugger 2-2, Quin Guthrie 2-1, Adrian Medina 3-1, Cody Richmond 0-2, Alexis Sualex 0-2, Alfredo Mejorado 1-1, Marshall Reyburn 2-0 and Jason Williams 1-1.

Meanwhile, seven WRMS eighth graders also wrestled tough during the Robert Stuart Invitational. Even with the relatively small team, Wood River (16-9 cumulative record) rallied for enough points to finish fifth out of 12 teams at Saturday's meet.

Those wrestlers and their records at Stuart were Jared Anderson 4-1, Storm Anderson 2-1, Tommy Bailey 3-1, Tim Boyle 2-1, Nic Brunker 1-2, Andrew Tranberger 2-2 and Ben Williams 2-1.

At the Jerome tournament

Last Tuesday, Nov. 18, the WRMS wrestling team took 21 wrestlers to the Jerome tournament. Hailey went 39-23 in 62 matches.

Undefeated were Cooper Bailey, Kyle Clark, Adrian Medina, Marshall Reyburn, Jared Anderson, Tim Boyle, Tommy Bailey, Andrew Tranberger and Storm Anderson.

Doing well with only one loss for the evening were Rudy Chavez, Quinn Guthrie and Ben Williams.
