This valley is a turkey

Where and when to find dinner, out

Is this finally the Thanksgiving holiday in which all the cooks in the family finally give themselves a rest? If so, there are several spots in the valley where a gourmet dinner will be available to fill the void left by grandma's chunk-style mashed potatoes.

Souper Supper

The weekly Souper Supper will hold its Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at St. Charles Parish Hall in Hailey.

Church service

The annual interfaith Thanksgiving Eve service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Hailey. Participating faith communities will be the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood, Emmanuel Episcopal, Light on the Mountains Spiritual Center, Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the Wood River Jewish Community. The offering will go to support Habitat for Humanity. Donations of non-perishable foods for the Hunger Coalition will also be accepted.

Roosevelt Tavern & Grille

The 17th annual Thanksgiving-Eve, Kick-Off-the-Ski-Season-Bash, normally held at the Sawtooth Club, will be held at the Roosevelt, Wednesday, Nov. 26. The bash will feature two-for-the-price-of-one dinner entrees, along with happy-hour prices in the bar all night long. The bar will open at 4:30 p.m., with dinner service beginning at 5 p.m. Reservations will be accepted until 6:30 p.m.; after that it will be first come, first served.

On Thursday, Nov. 27, the Roosevelt Grille will open at 1 p.m. for après ski and football. Dinner will be served from 2-9 p.m. The menu includes a choice of oven-roasted, free-range turkey with all the trimmings, grilled rack of lamb with savory red wine reduction, flame-broiled trout brushed with smoked red pepper butter, slow-roasted prime rib of beef and fire-grilled fresh salmon finished with lemon-basil beurre blanc.

Sun Valley Inn Limelight Room

Buffet tickets may be purchased in advance at the Sun Valley Recreation Center or at the door for the buffet, to be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. The cost is adults for $39.50 and kids 12 and under $22.50. Call 622-2135 for tickets. Buffet seating is on an "as available" basis.

The Lodge Dining Room

It's first come, first served for Thanksgiving at Sun Valley's Lodge Dining Room, from 2-8 p.m. Thursday.

Gretchen's Restaurant

A Thanksgiving menu will also be served at Gretchen's in the Sun Valley Lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. Reservations will not be taken.

The Ram Restaurant

The Ram in the Sun Valley Lodge will offer a Thanksgiving feast from 4-9 p.m. Thursday. Larry Harshbarger will entertain on piano. Seating is first come, first served. Reservations will not be accepted.

Galena Lodge

Galena Lodge will open for the season on Thanksgiving Day. The dinner is sold-out but Winter Dinners will begin serving at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29. For reservations call 726-4010.

Cristina's

They'll cook, pour the wine, serve and clean up. What more can you want? Cristina's Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 4:30-9 p.m., Thursday. Located at 520 Second St. E., Ketchum. Call for reservations, 726-4499.

CK's Real Food

Locally produced, sustainable and organic cuisine will be served for Thanksgiving from 5-10 p.m. Thursday. Call 788-1223 for a reservation or visit cksrealfood.com. Located at 320 Main St. S., Hailey.

Clarion Inn

A locals' Thanksgiving dinner will be served at the Clarion Inn in Ketchum, at 3 p.m. Thursday. with dessert and a glass of wine included for $40 prix fixe. Call 726-5900 for a reservation by Monday, Nov. 24. 600 North Main Street. Ketchum.
