Middle school wrestlers dominate at home

Wood River Middle School's wrestling team dominated the field during a big home meet Nov. 11 in Hailey. The Wolverines won the meet 62-13.

Hailey grapplers took the mat against the likes of Burley, Valley of Hazelton, O'Leary of Twin Falls, Wendell and Kimberly. Ten Wood River wrestlers out of the 21 Wolverines had amazing records of being undefeated for the day.

They were Jared Anderson, Storm Anderson, Tommy Bailey, Tim Boyle, Ben Williams, Cooper Bailey, Kyle Clark, Quinn Guthrie, Adrian Medina and Marshall Reyburn.

Technical skill, sheer strength, patience, timing and perseverance allowed many of the Hailey wrestlers to score wins and negotiate pins during the 203-match meet The most popular move of the evening seemed to be the "cradle."

Coming up: WRMS kids traveled to Jerome Middle School on Tuesday, Nov. 18 for a meet against Jerome, Gooding, Kimberly and Oakley.

The local kids go to Robert Stuart Middle School in Twin Falls Saturday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. for a weekend tournament. There will be 18 weight classes for the seventh graders, from 75 pounds to 275, and 17 classes for eighth graders from 82 to 275.

Individual medals will go to the top four placers in each weight class Saturday, with championship trophies presented to the top seventh- and eighth-grade teams. In addition, coaches will vote special awards to the top seventh- and eighth-grade wrestlers.

Wood River next travels to Gooding Middle School on Tuesday, Nov. 25 for a 5 p.m. meet against Gooding, Glenns Ferry, Wendell and Buhl.

Eighth graders: Jared Anderson at 80 pounds, 4-0 (10-0 season); Storm Anderson at 140 pounds, 4-0 (7-0 season); Tommy Bailey at 112 pounds, 4-0 (8-0 season); Tim Boyle at 103 pounds, 5-0 (8-0 season); Andrew Tranberger at 130 pounds, 2-1 (2-5 season); Ben Williams at 189 pounds, 3-0 (8-0 season).

Seventh graders: Cooper Bailey 85 pounds, 4-0 (10-0 season); Beau Boss 150 pounds, 1-1 (4-2 season); Rudy Chavez 75 pounds, 2-1 (4-3 season); Kyle Clark 95 pounds, 3-0 (4-0 season); Chris Dugger 105 pounds, 2-1 (3-4 season); Colby Guisasola 95 pounds, 3-1 (4-2 season); Kaleb Guisasola 75 pounds, 3-1 (6-4 season); Quinn Guthrie 115 pounds, 4-0 (9-0 season); Leim Niedrich 110 pounds, 1-2 (2-4 season); Adrian Medina 110 pounds, 2-0 (4-1 season); Marshall Reyburn 170 pounds, 4-0 (7-0 season); Cody Richmond 130 pounds, 2-1 (4-3 season); Alexis Sualez 140 pounds, 1-3 (2-7 season); Jason Williams 190 pounds, 3-1 (4-2 season).
