Landowners: get involved

Thank you to everyone who supported me during my candidacy for Blaine County Commissioner. I sincerely appreciate the financial and campaign sign support along with the encouragement that so many of you gave to me.

I plan to continue my involvement in the public forums that address the many important issues involving Blaine County. Please be assured that this is one tiger that will not "change his stripes" to appease the "more taxes and larger bureaucracies" crowd. My messages will continue to focus on low property taxes, limited growth in county government and fiscal responsibility.

As the lines blur between private enterprise and government, we need to realize that economic prosperity will be driven by small businesses and not government spending. The role of local government should be to encourage business success through reasonable tax and fee policies along with expedited hearing and permitting processes.

On a final note, I encourage county landowners to become more involved in greater numbers in the public hearing process related to land use decisions by the county. Protect your property rights because there are certain groups that have an undue amount of influence in these decisions.
