Sports summary


College Football

Tyson Reynoso of Bellevue was one of 25 Northeast Region players picked to the District 1 College team. A tri-captain linebacker at Tufts University, Reynoso was also voted on to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. Reynoso, son of Ron Reynoso and Pam Street, graduated as valedictorian from Wood River High School in 2005.

College Hockey

Joey Sides, a senior forward on the Wentworth Institute of Technology hockey team, tallied two assists in the Leopards season-opening win in the Becker Ice-Breaker Invitational in Marlboro, Mass. Wentworth scored six unanswered goals to beat Becker 6-1. Nichols College won the tournament by a 3-2 score over Wentworth. Sides grew up in the Wood River Valley and played in the Sun Valley Youth Hockey program.

Senior League Hockey

New Senior League commissioner John Heinrich announced that play in the men's A hockey league will begin on Monday, Dec. 1. The 18-week season culminates with the Gund Cup playoffs and championship in early March. Games—in what is expected to be a four-team league—will be on Monday and Thursday nights, with the exception of December, when an earlier time slot on Wednesdays will be utilized. Virtual Golf

Inclement weather can't put the brakes on all golf in the valley. Sun Valley Golf Club features virtual golf seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last reservation at 3 p.m.). Duffers can choose from a selection of world-famous course, including Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach, Bayhill, Spyglass Hill and others. Up to four golfers may play at a time. CSI Baseball Camp

The annual College of Southern Idaho baseball camp will be held December 27, 28, and 29, at the CSI campus in Twin Falls. Instruction is provided in all aspects of the game: hitting, fielding, catching and pitching. The staff consists of professional and collegiate coaches and players, including USA baseball coach Jim Walker.

Trout Unlimited meeting on Yosemite

Trout Unlimited's December meeting will feature local professional photographer Carmen Northern speaking on "Yosemite, a Photographer's Perspective." The meeting is Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5-7 p.m., also at Roosevelt Grill.
