Sun Valley indoor ice rink was a gaggle of girls in gear the morning of Sunday, November 2, as Devan Ellison Annan completed her senior project titled, "Girls Got Game".
Annan, assistant captain and leading scorer for the 2007-2008 Sun Valley Girls' U-19 team, along with many of her Suns teammates, hosted the girls' hockey clinic from 9:30-1:15.
According to Annan, the clinic was "designed to give younger girls a chance to try out hockey, or to continue building their hockey skills, surrounded by other females who have a developed love for the sport".
Helping Annan run the clinic were Sun Valley teammates Tanner Dredge, Dylan Peterson, Aimee Evans, Daniela Stokes, Ashley Hesteness, Nellie Brown, Morgan Pintler, Tate Reed-McDorman, Ellie Swanson, Maddie Miller and Gina Rickling.
Attendees of the clinic ranged in age from 5 years old to 10 years old, with all skating abilities represented.
"It was so great to see the smiles on these girls' faces, and to see my teammates share their hockey abilities. I am very thankful for the donations and help I received from people in our community," Annan said.
Each participant received her own Sun Valley Girls' Hockey water bottle and left the ice sweaty and happy.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Sun Valley Girls' hockey team.
