On a crisp autumn night, two local schools paid homage to their fall athletes in separate ceremonies in Sun Valley.
Last Wednesday, The Community School and Wood River High School staged awards banquets for their respective teams at Elkhorn Resort.
Celebrating at Elkhorn Restaurant, Cutthroat coaches Richard Whitelaw (boys' soccer), Kelly Feldman (girls' soccer), Reamy Goodwin (volleyball) and Chris Mallory (cross country) presented awards to the following athletes:

The Wood River girls' soccer team staged their fete at the Elkhorn Golf Course Clubhouse. Player Sam Johnson organized the event for her senior project. Head coach Greg Gvozdas and the team had plenty to celebrate, capping a fall in which the Wolverines set a single-season record for wins with 18, featuring a school-high 131 goals by 19 different players.
Varsity letters were given to all 23 players, including first-timers Ali Appleton, Sloan Storey, Morgan Brimstein, Cheyenne Swanson, Megan Morrell, KT Martinez, Halsey Pierce, Maddie Kate Currie, Lina Klumpp and Devan Annan.
Players receiving varsity pins were Taylor Hayes, Ellen Davis, Madison Gove, Tanner Dredge, Ashley Hesteness, Kelly Chapman, Bailey Ireland, Elsa Sweek, Delaney Fox, Sam Johnson, Laura Elgee, Makayla Cappel and Aimee Evans.
