Help show the way

The Ketchum Community Development Corp., along with city staff, will be seeking public input to develop a sign system to help visitors and residents navigate the town.

The "way-finding" project was kicked off on Tuesday morning with a meeting at City Hall at which Dale Bates, chair of the CDC's Town Design Team, explained that the aim of the improvements would be to provide better directions to points of interest and information on the town's heritage.

Bates said current signs, including parking regulations, are haphazardly placed and in spots create clutter.

City Planner Stefanie Webster showed slides of other communities that have implemented sign programs, which include large maps attached to lampposts and plaques for historical monuments.

Bates said the CDC will incorporate the public's recommendations into its proposal to the City Council at a public hearing tentatively scheduled for spring.
