Vote "yes" on Nov. 4 for what? The brochure tells me to "preserve land and wildlife." For $5 a month? What this does not tell me is the reason for this levy. How you preserve land and wildlife with 3-plus million dollars. Are there so many people with time on their hands or CEOs without a million-dollar retirement? This idiotic proposal sounds like a "Marvel" movement.
In the face of the monetary meltdown nationwide and CEO greed that has sapped the money market, it seems like bad timing for a project of this magnitude. Whatever this committee, whoever they may be, they are completely out of this realm. Not only would this levy create a hardship on many senior citizens who are on a fixed income, but it is ridiculous in the planning.
If the people behind this movement are the same ones who hug the unwanted trees or promote the running of the sheep, they will no doubt end up seeing "the running of the wolves."
This levy would bring in over $3 million, which would go a long way in promoting something much more worthy. Repairing the Fish Creek Dam is a first that would contribute to "preserving land and wildlife," as would many more needed projects. This dam repair would also furnish water to many thirsty acres, and should be a high priority for all of Blaine County.
If this levy were to be spent on projects such as the above, I would be glad to vote "yes." Otherwise I urge everyone to vote "no."
