Meditation classes set

Renowned teacher to facilitate retreat

Retreat into the "Art of Awakened Living," Friday to Sunday, Oct. 17 to 19 with the renowned meditation teacher Anam Thubten.

Born in Tibet, Anam Thubten was recognized as the reincarnation of Anam Lama at a young age. He has taught extensively in the U.S. and abroad since the 1990s and currently serves as the spiritual advisor and dharma teacher for the Dharmata Foundation in California, of which is he is the founder. He is also the author of various articles and books in both the Tibetan and English language. His teachings mainly draw from Prajnaparamita, or transcendent wisdom, which is the heart of Buddha's message.

A spiritual discourse will take place 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Oct. 17 at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. The cost is $15.

In this talk Anam Thubten will invite participants to join in an "exploration into the realm of truth."

The weekend retreat will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18 and 19, at 320 1st Avenue North, above the Friesen Gallery, in Ketchum.

The cost is $125, which includes Friday night, and scholarships are available.
