Pizza and Politics forum set for Hailey

Candidates for Legislature, sheriff and County Commission to square off

By EXPRESS STAFF

Political candidates for Blaine County Commission, Blaine County sheriff and Idaho state representative for District 25 will present platforms and answer questions from voters in a Pizza and Politics forum next week.

The event is the Wood River Valley's only public, non-partisan election forum, and for the 27th year the Idaho Mountain Express is organizing and promoting it as a public service. The newspaper and Smoky Mountain Pizza will provide the pizza. Express Editor Shea Andersen will moderate the discussion.

The candidates forum will be held at the Old County Courthouse in Hailey on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. Candidates for sheriff, county commissioner and state representative have been invited to square off.

Candidates include House Minority Leader Wendy Jaquet, D-Ketchum, who is running against Jeff Faulkner, a Republican from Gooding; Sheriff Walt Femling and challenger Steve England; and County Commissioner Larry Schoen and challenger Dale Ewersen, competing to represent southern Blaine County.

The public is invited to come to the forums and meet the candidates, ask them questions and partake of a variety of pizzas. The event will run about 90 minutes. Questions from the public must be addressed in a manner so that both candidates in each race can answer.
