Kudos and thank you to Edwin C. Thomas ("Murphy's a Bully," Sept. 26) for his well-crafted letter, spotlighting the often venal columns of Pat Murphy.
Murphy's observations are generally angry, unsourced and predictable. There are those on Murphy's side of the ideological divide who argue with wit, articulation and research. I often disagree with them, but can have dialogue and meaningful discussion with such people. However, there are no reference points with bullies.
The Mountain Express directors and publisher seem to have concluded that Murphy's views and style resonate with the local community. Or, perhaps they believe that the exposure to his bias and bile is good for our souls.
