A 26-year-old Hailey man has been charged with a felony for allegedly threatening the wife of his brother, who had been arrested for domestic battery.
Pablo Ramirez-Hernandez was charged with witness intimidation Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court. Bond was set at $10,000 and Ramirez-Hernandez remained incarcerated in the Blaine County Jail. Records at the jail state that there is an "immigration hold" on him, which means that he is suspected of being an illegal immigrant.
Hailey police reported that the suspect is the brother of Jose Ramirez-Hernandez, a 29-year-old Hailey man arrested Sept. 21 on a misdemeanor charge of battering his wife in the presence of a child. Jose Ramirez-Hernandez pleaded guilty to the charge on Sept. 22 and was sentenced to 12 days in jail.
"After Jose was arrested last week, Pablo went over to the victim's house and threatened her," Hailey Assistant Police Chief Dave Stellers said Monday. "We attempted to arrest him on the 21st and we couldn't find him, so we got a warrant and arrested him on the 27th.
"She said that the brother pushed her and she would pay for putting Jose in jail."
Both the domestic violence and the alleged witness intimidation incidents occurred at the Balmoral apartments in the Woodside area of southeast Hailey, Stellers said.
