The Idaho Federation of Republican Women is expected to bring 150 members to Sun Valley on Friday, Sept. 26, for its biannual meeting. Sessions will be held at the Sun Valley Lodge.

The convention will be hosted this year by the newly formed Blaine County Republican Women's Club.

State President Melinda Smyser of Parma will conduct sessions, with delegates from 15 counties statewide in attendance.

The Idaho Federation is affiliated with the National Federation of Republican Women. Some of the objectives of the Idaho Federation of Republican Women are to promote an informed electorate through political information and to increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.

The Sun Valley convention agenda includes various educational workshops.

A welcome barbecue will be hosted by Blaine County Republican Women with keynote speaker Shirley Sadler, president of the National Federation of Republican Women, and guest speaker Lori Otter, Idaho's first lady.

A Saturday morning breakfast meeting will feature keynote speaker Tom Luna, Idaho superintendent of public instruction. Lt. Gov. Jim Risch, also a candidate for U.S. Senate, will speak at 11 a.m. A Saturday luncheon will include a talk by state Controller Donna Jones, who will speak on "The Power of One Woman."
