Secure your stuff

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

Hailey police are advising motorists and residents to secure their property in light of an increase in thefts in the city during the past few months.

"We're noting a rise in thefts from unlocked vehicles and property," said Assistant Police Chief Dave Stellers. "I'm not seeing a huge spike in property thefts. I'm just seeing more than I usually see."

Stellers said the majority of thefts in the city are crimes of opportunity when thieves have easy access to vehicles or buildings.

"We usually see about four or five a week," Stellers said. "Now we're seeing five or six. I just want people to lock their stuff up."
