Hypocrisy on Palin

Once again Pat Murphy opens mouth and places his foot firmly within. In last week's column, Mr. Murphy goes on about the new Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, and quotes a Washington Post columnist, Richard Cohen, about her sarcasm, small provincialism, hypocrisy about family and government, her exploitation of mommyhood and her personal attacks on Democrats. This is the man who for years has attributed to Karl Rove any number of dirty tricks (which he never identifies) and yet here is Mr. Murphy calling a mother of five an exploiter of mommy-hood. I suppose Ms. Palin had five children just so she would be the vice presidential nominee of the Republican Party.

In the last two weeks I have seen an astounding amount of political hypocrisy from the Democratic Party. This is the party that says that they are above any type of political dirty tricks and yet here you have Pat Murphy, any number of announcers, Web sites and politicians all attempting to smear somebody they had never seen or heard of until two weeks ago.

These are but a few of the examples of the hypocrisy of a party that calls itself fair, does not engage in personal attacks or dirty tricks. A party that until about three months ago had almost dislocated its arm patting itself on the back that a woman might be its party's nominee.

I could continue for there are any number of further examples but I am sure by this time you understand that as far as I can see the Democratic Party will do or say anything to get itself elected this November. The Democratic Party appears to fear rational, thoughtful debate and has descended into harsh personal attacks as their preferred method of campaigning.
