When I arrived in the Sun Valley area a few weeks ago, I picked up the local papers and hooked on to the "renegade-type" attacks on the Ketchum mayor. I don't know Randy Hall, but it brought my attention to a personal experience I had in signing a recall petition.
It can be a nasty experience. The vast majority of those signing petitions don't have a clue about the truth of the accusations, and will sign anything for a friend to avoid embarrassment by refusing to join the attack. I have been there and lost friends over emotional actions that can leave scars forever. Don't do it. It's like a runaway stagecoach coming down the mountain and the reins are lost. Let the man finish his term and then don't vote for him in the future if you prefer.
I went to the Ketchum post office about two weeks ago, and some solicitor was outside raking in postal customers to sign the petition. This is dangerous non-federal business for the solicitor and the signers. If you are one of those unfortunate captives, don't walk to the Ketchum City Hall, run, and run fast and get your name off now. You will get immediate mental relief and a clean conscience.
Be a good neighbor. Write the mayor a constructive, positive personal note with your concerns. My bet is that he will be appreciative.
