MS Fun Run and Walk Saturday

Support the Wood River Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society and get some exercise Saturday, Sept. 20 during the annual MS Walk and 5k Run leaving from Forest Service Park in Ketchum. Register ($20 fee) from 9 a.m. The 3.1-mile run starts at 9:45 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m. To register, call the Wood River Community YMCA at 727-9622 or phone 720-3581 for more details.

American Legion baseball statistics come out

Wood River American Legion baseball coach Matt Nelson has released the final season statistics for his 26-11 squad (22-8 league) that finished second in the Area C "A" Legion ranks this past summer. The Wolverines outscored their opponents 310-174, posted an 11-3 home record at Hailey's Founders Field and were 8-1-6 in their doubleheaders.

Nelson congratulated Jonah Torseth for taking over the presidency of the Wood River Baseball and Softball Association, and thanked outgoing president Val Seamons for all her hard work. Nelson also thanked Brent Anderson and Hailey Car Quest for sponsoring the Ray Nelson Legion breakfast during July. Stats:

Pitching: Pat Patterson 9-3, Trent Seamons 7-2 with a no-hitter, Sean Bunce 5-1.

Batting average: Seamons .389, Michale Brunker .380 and Greg Wakefield .325. RBI: Seamons 63, Patterson 59 and Brunker 59. Home runs: Seamons 6, Patterson 3 and Wakefield 1. Stolen bases: Brunker 18 and Seamons 15. Runs scored: Brunker 87 and Seamons 84.

Sites change for state soccer

The Idaho High School Activities Association has announced site changes for this year's 4A and 3A boys' and girls' meets set for Oct. 23-25. Both tournaments were originally scheduled for the Capital Complex in Boise. Now, the 4A boys and girls will play at Brothers Park in Caldwell, near Caldwell High School, and have their championship games at Syringa Middle School near the College of Idaho. The 3A boys and girls will compete at Vallivue High School in Caldwell. The 5A tournaments remain at Eagle, Meridian and Rocky Mountain high schools. The 4A soccer tournaments in 2009 are tentatively scheduled for Post Falls and Lake City high schools in northern Idaho. The 3A meets next year are in Pocatello.

Fun shoot coming Sept. 27 to Sun Valley Gun Club

Sun Valley Resort has planned a Fun Shoot for Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants are being offered 100 targets for $35, a price that includes lunch at the facility located one-and-a-half miles east of Sun Valley Lodge along Trail Creek Road. There will be prizes for top shooters.

The range is open daily from 10-4, the last shooters at 3 p.m. It offers trap, double trap, wobble trap, skeet, duck tower, 5-Stand and sporting clays. Sign up for the Fun Shoot by calling 622-2111.

Swim classes are starting up

Group swimming lessons for children ages 3-12, plus private lessons for all ages, are starting up at the Wood River Community YMCA in Ketchum starting the week of Monday, Sept. 15. Check the Web site at woodriverymca.org or call Dyne at 727-9622 ext. 107.
