George O. Moore, 62 passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Half Moon Bay, Calif., after a long illness. George was born and raised in San Mateo, Calif., where he spent his youth surfing the north coast.
At the time of his death, he had been living in California since 2001, but before that, he lived for many years in Bellevue. He served as building inspector in Bellevue, and later on the City Council. During this time he married, and in 1986, his son, Sam, was born. These were the happiest days in George's life. His son meant the world to him.
George became ill in 1990, and in 2001 he decided to move back to California where the climate was less harsh, and where he could be closer to his son. Reprieves from his ill health allowed him to spend many more years living on the coast he loved so much.
To those who were his friends, "Big George" will be remembered for his sense of humor and generosity. He is survived by his son, Sam Moore. A memorial is pending.
