SVSEF accepting new athletes

The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is accepting applications for new athletes until Oct. 15.

For its 42nd season the foundation will provide high quality winter sports programs to the youth of the Wood River Valley, including alpine, freestyle and cross-country skiing, as well as snowboarding.

More than 500 athletes from second to 12th grade will participate this winter, with scholarships available to all applicants for both tuition and travel.

Applications are available online at www.svsef.org or at the foundation's office, located at the 215 Picabo Street at the base of Warm Springs. For more information, call 726-4129, ext. 101.

Business plan competition announced

Jigsaw, a local non-profit that assists small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Wood River Valley, is sponsoring a business plan competition called Entrepreneurs Just Do It! The deadline for submissions is Monday, Sept. 15.

The three top finalists will be announced Oct. 1, 2008, and will have the opportunity to compete to be the final winner.

For those who have incubating business ideas, e-mail them to Jigsaw as entries for the competition. At the least you'll get professional review and feedback. First prize will include $250 and the services of a mentor to help further develop the plan.

LazoTek to hold grand opening

LazoTek, a new computer technology business in Ketchum, will have a grand opening ribbon cutting party on today from 5-7 p.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at 6:30 p.m.

LazoTek is located at 600 N. Main St. in Ketchum and is a certified and authorized reseller of Microsoft, Novell, HP, Citrix and Cisco products.

There will be three iPod Shuffles giveaways at 6:30 p.m.

Hailey Chamber calls for bids on Christmas Lights

The Hailey Chamber of Commerce is accepting proposals for the purchase and installation of LED Christmas Lights on the trees on Main Street in Hailey. Proposals must be submitted no later than Friday, Sept. 19.

Rusch, Martin bash set for Saturday

Apple's Bar & Grill will host a celebration for 24 Hours of Adrenalin world champions Rebecca Rusch and Greg Martin. The party is set to start at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, and will feature music, food and party favors from Rusch's sponsors.
