After a two-year hiatus, the Lyle Pearson Labor Day Tennis Championship is back in the Wood River Valley. For the first time in years, the tournament will be held at the Sun Valley Resort since its previous host, the Warm Springs Ranch, no longer exists.
"Sun Valley is a great site," said tournament director David Perry. "Since there are 17 courts, all of the matches can take place right there. It is just a fabulous, classic venue."
Perry said this tournament is unusual in that juniors and adults can compete against one another.
Competitors are invited to play in one of three categories: singles, doubles or mixed doubles. Match format will be best two out of three sets. All doubles divisions will play a third-set super-tiebreaker (first team to get to 10 points with at least a two-point margin).
Perry expects as many as 150 participants in the three-day tournament, which starts Saturday Aug. 30 and ends Monday, Sept. 1.
