Philip Tsiaras painting ‘Glassy Vase #5’ is on exhibit at Gallery DeNovo.

The DeNovo Gallery in Ketchum will host artist Philip Tsiaras during gallery walk, tonight, from 6-9 p.m. An international artist of Greek origin based in New York City, Tsiaras will show work from the retrospective exhibition "Horse Boy" as well as a new exhibition titled "Mediterrania," featuring his Glassy Vases paintings.

"We met Philip at the Venice Biennial in 2007," said Robin Reiners, owner of DeNovo. "We were amazed that someone with his credentials would be interested in showing with us, but he said he really liked us better than many of the New York galleries as we were not corrupted yet. He has a great sense of humor. I find it very interesting that Philip has chosen to manage his own career rather than handing it over to one of the big New York-International galleries."

Indeed, Tsiaras shows in Greece, Turkey, Italy and Dubai, among other places.

"Reading his resume is a challenge for world geography," Reiners said.

He is the recipient of many national prizes including the American Academy Award for Poetry, the Thomas Watson Fellowship, two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and nomination for the Blickle Stiftung Photography Prize in Germany. His paintings, bronzes, photographs and glass sculptures are widely collected in prominent museums and private collections. Five works are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The "Horse Boy" exhibition is accompanied by a beautifully hand-bound book, co-published by Canova Books and Gallery Denovo.
