Inmates transferred to new county jail

Inmates were transferred Monday from the old Blaine County Jail to the new one at the Blaine County Public Safety Facility on Aviation Drive in south Hailey.

"We're in here and now we're trying to work out all the kinks," said Jail Administrator Jay Davis.

Details on the move had not been provided to the Idaho Mountain Express by press deadline on Thursday.

However, the Sheriff's Office has averaged about 32 inmates per day during the past year and the old jail had accommodations for only 26.

It was not clear whether Blaine County prisoners housed at other county jails had yet been brought to the new facility, which has accommodations for 84 inmates.
