James Francis Coonrod

James was born in Boise, Idaho, on June 12, 1938, the son of Jacob Francis Coonrod, whose grandfather was J.F Coonrod, a pioneer to the Cascade area with a large family arriving in Long Valley in 1890.

Jim lived in Boise some years but was residing in Vancouver, Wash., at the time he left this life on Aug. 8, 2008. He lived also in Ketchum for a brief time. His ashes will be spread as he wished in the Wood River Valley in a private ceremony.

Jim left a legacy for his family and all those whose lives he affected of gentleness, courage, perseverance and strong spiritual faith. He never lost hope, neither did he fear. Jim was a professional addiction counselor and dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 30 years. He will be remembered always by those he helped and by his family: his sister, Connie Maricich Chesnel; brother-in-law, Jean-Pierre Chesnel; nephew, Nick Maricich; niece, Maria Maricich Lato and family; and great-niece, Ali Maricich, and great-nephew, Zachary Siele.
