A Gannett man faces his second domestic battery charge in less than a year after he was arrested Sunday in Bellevue for allegedly running over his girlfriend's foot with a vehicle.

Thirty-two-year-old Jason Gaba was charged Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court with misdemeanor battery. Gaba was later released from the Blaine County Jail after posting $1,500 bond.

Bellevue Marshal Ron Taylor reported that the incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of south Main Street and Gannet Road. Taylor said Gaba was arguing with his girlfriend, a 37-year-old Hailey woman. Gaba reportedly stopped the vehicle, and the woman either got out voluntarily or was pushed out and Gaba drove away, running over her left foot and scraping her left leg.

Taylor said Gaba told investigators that it was an accident, while the girlfriend said he did it on purpose.

The woman was transported to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center for treatment of "major contusions to her left foot and left shin," Taylor said.

Blaine County court records state that Gaba was also charged last December with misdemeanor domestic battery with a child present. That charge was later pleaded down to disturbing the peace. Gaba was given an 86-day suspended jail sentence and ordered to pay a fine and court fees of $489.50.
