Tracy’s All-Stars pack a 15-2 wallop

First Hailey Coed Softball League classic

Coach Tracy Peterson's yellow-shirted All-Stars packed a little more punch than coach Toni Marcroft's blue-shirted All-Stars in Thursday's first annual Hailey Coed Softball League All-Star game on the Lion's Park diamond in Hailey.

Ripping 22 hits, the Peterson All-Stars built a 6-1 lead after six innings and batted around for eight runs in the seventh. They captured a 15-2 win. Thanks to slick fielding, the quick nine-inning game lasted only 69 minutes.

Defensive gems came mainly from Tracy Peterson's middle infield of Sean Harrington and Kenny Nelson, who turned three double plays in the first five innings ending in the glove of first baseman Tina Murphy.

Other fielding gems came from Toni Marcroft's third baseman Kellen Chatterton and left fielder Hoss Schmidt.

Another fielder who made a great diving catch, Phil Uhrig of Tracy's, also clouted a pair of solo homers. Uhrig (3 RBI) was one of four Tracy's All-Stars with three hits for the game. The others were Kenny Nelson (3 doubles, 4 runs), Jeff Burrell (double, 3 RBI) and Sue Mulcahy (double, 2 RBI).

Tracy's All-Stars with two hits were Jamie Stone (2 runs), pitcher Chris Benson (2 RBI), T.J. Peterson (triple) and Harrington (double, 2 runs). Peterson's triple sparked the eight-run seventh. Tina Murphy (2 RBI) also contributed. Rounding out the winners were Sheri Thomas, Samantha Sisiam and Tonya Seig.

Toni's All-Stars (7 hits) could never get started. Leadoff hitter Brad Dredge (2 hits) scored both runs, cracking a leadoff triple and scoring the first run in the fifth. Katrina Kolman doubled home Dredge for the second run in the eighth.

Other Toni's All-Stars with hits were Chatterton, Brian Thompson, Morgan Uhrig and Bonnie Burrell. Also playing were B.J. Adams, Tami Brooks, Lacey Peterson, pitcher Mike Beall and Jimberly Rooney.
