Moore’s building in Hailey gets a facelift

City officials uncertain of use

Renovation of a Main Street building in Hailey belonging to actress Demi Moore began last

week. It is unclear what type of business or businesses will find a home in what has become known as the "old drug store," located on the west side of Main Street between Croy and Bullion streets.

Last week, demolition crews removed the floors inside of the long-vacant building.

City building official Dave Ferguson said the ownership group, California-based 123 LLC, plans to renovate the building in phases. He said the first phase, demolition of parts of the structure, including the back wall, has been permitted and has already started. Subsequent phases include a structural retrofit and an interior remodel to prepare it for a tenant, possibly a retailer.

Ferguson said the plan is to develop a "whole new structural diaphragm inside the existing walls," repair part of the roof that has failed and replace the back wall.

City Planning Director Beth Robrahn said 123 LLC received approval from the Planning Department last month to make changes to the exterior of the structure, including remodeling of the front and rear facades.

Hailey Building Inspector Rick Fahey said only a demolition permit has been finalized as of Tuesday. He said the renovated building could eventually house as many as four businesses, including a restaurant.

"Whatever it becomes, it will be an improvement to Main Street," he said.
