Water solutions exist

Mr. Stahl's article in the August 1, 2008, issue of the Idaho Mountain Express is very timely as summer continues without any significant rainfall here in the Wood River Valley. It certainly indicates the need for more emphasis on landscaping new and existing properties so that they require only the very minimum amount of water. Perhaps it is time for mandating water saving conservation measures through landscaping codes as is the case in some drought prone communities in the southwestern part of the country.

One such example of water saving landscaping measures here in Hailey is the property of Mr. & Mrs. Erwin Kett living at 950 Buckskin Drive in the Deerfield Subdivision. Valley residents may want to drive by and look at their back yard off of Whitetail Drive. The backyard looks very attractive even when there is no grass and only drip systems on the trees and shrubs.
