Just about every kind of hit, except triples, left the bats of Ketchum Coed Softball League All-Stars in Wednesday night's third annual All-Star game at West Ketchum Coliseum.

There weren't any triples because there was a beer keg and designated pourers at second base so that the base runners could pause and enjoy the moment. And there were a lot of base runners, 35 hits in all.

It was close all the way, Francis Gilbo's squad of All-Stars just nipping Lenny Joseph's All-Star team 10-9 after nine innings of back-and-forth and stopping-at-second ball.

Trailing 9-7 in the home eighth, Francis' All-Stars (18 hits) pushed across the three winning runs with one out.

Sue Mulcahy (2 hits, 2 runs) singled and Dirk Zondag (3 hits, 2 runs) reached on an infield single. Karly Maratea got aboard on an error to load the bases. Shortstop Rod Watson (3 RBI) delivered a two-run single for a 9-9 game. An RBI single by pitcher Pat McGee (3 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBI) plated Maratea with the 10th and final run.

McGee, who belted a two-run homer in the fourth, was a hitting star for a Francis squad that had plenty of hitters—Sarah Parker (2 hits), Anthony Anderson (2 hits) and Donovan Matteson (2 hits). Also playing were McKenzie Fowler, Jill Morse, Mackenzie Moore, Kate Chappel and Matt Christian.

Lenny's All-Stars (17 hits) had a little more oomph at the top of the batting order, the 1-2-3-4 Lenny's hitters going 11-for-16 with 8 runs scored and 5 RBI.

And they boasted the game's Gold Glove winner in left center fielder, Jillian Storm (2 hits, 3 runs). She made all the catches including a great grab of Anthony Anderson's nose-diving knuckleball for an out.

Leading the way was Lenny's second baseman Sean Harrington (3-for-4, 3 runs, 4 RBI). Leadoff batter Buffalo Rixon (3 hits, 2 runs) and sharp-fielding shortstop Jennifer Biondi (3 hits) also did damage. Kate Heinecke (2 RBI) and first baseman Shannon Flavin (2 hits) helped out, too.

Also playing for Lenny's Wednesday night were Tom Moreland, pitcher Craig Morse, Annie Byerly, Kellee Havens, Mike Griffiths, Gary Moser and Brenda Griffin.
