A 13-year-old California boy was flown by emergency helicopter to a Boise hospital after he crashed on a skateboard Saturday afternoon in Bellevue.

The Bellevue Marshal's Office identified the youth as Jesus Cruz. Marshal Ron Taylor said Cruz was flown to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center as a precautionary measure because of a head injury but was released from the hospital on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Cedar Street and north Sixth Street.

"He was coming down Cedar Street on a skateboard and it looks like he lost control and crashed and hit his head pretty hard on the asphalt," Taylor said.

Cruz was initially taken to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center by Wood River Fire and Rescue ambulance and was flown to Boise from there.
