A 27-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested on suspicion of felony aggravated battery after he allegedly punched a Ketchum man in the face early Saturday morning at the Crystal Villa condominium complex in west Ketchum.

The Ketchum Police Department identified the suspect as Benjamin Thomas Campbell and the alleged victim as 23-year-old Dafin Andrei Tarau.

Police spokesman Kim Rogers said the police department learned of the alleged altercation shortly after 4:30 a.m. from St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, where Tarau was taken for treatment. An officer was sent to interview Tarau, and Campbell was later arrested.

Rogers described the incident as an "altercation between the two of them at a small gathering."

Rogers declined to describe Tarau's injuries, citing patient confidentiality laws.

Aggravated battery is typically charged in cases where a victim suffers severe bruising, severe lacerations or broken bones.
