Skating away on a Saturday

Skateboard contest returns to Ketchum

Bragging rights and a fun day at Guy Coles Skatepark were the attractions of the seventh annual Ketchum Skatepark Skateboard Contest on Saturday, Aug. 2 in Ketchum.

Top three skaters in the finals were Quinn Baser in first place, Scott Pike in second and Brian Dressel in third place.

Judges looked at overall impression including amplitude, style and things like linking trick-to-trick. Each skater was graded on the best of two runs. The top 10 scores out of all the age groups made the finals.

"That was kind of cool because some of the younger kids were in there with the older guys for the finals," said contest participant and Saturday's announcer Andy Gilbert.

Zeb Stroebel-Haft made custom stencil trophies for the first-place winners and The Board Bin and its vendors supplied swag for contestants.
