Is the idea of climbing Borah Peak, the highest of Idaho's mountains, a bit of a stretch for you?
When the summit team with Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research begins its climb of Borah on Aug. 22 and 23, to raise funds and awareness a new option for those who wish to participate will be available.
Due to popular demand, there will be a non-summit hike option, EI Program manager Carol O'Laughlin said. Hikers will camp with the Borah summit team on Friday, Aug. 22 and hike part way to the summit of Borah on Saturday, Aug. 23 as members of a support team.
This two-day adventure will begin with the over night campout in the Lost River Valley, where team members will meet their fellow climbers and Sawtooth Mountain Guides. Early on Saturday, the Summit Team will set off for their climb of Borah Peak, at 12,668 feet.
The support team will hike the trails on Borah later in the morning, and will join the Summit Team for a celebration dinner in Ketchum.
This climb is part of its "Five Peaks In Five Years" fundraising series. The series of summit climbs up the highest peaks in Idaho's rugged mountain ranges are structured to empower and promote the health and well being of those participating, while raising awareness and funds.
Space is limited for both teams. Call Expedition Inspiration for more information about the cost and fundraising possibilities at 726-6456 or email ei@expeditioninspiration.org.
