Tune-ups at Jackson Hole

Two Sun Valley teams warmed up for their home tournament by competing last weekend in the Jackson Hole (Wyo.) Invitational tourney.

Sun Valley players Casey Mills, Lynsey Dyer, Ashley Brown and Jill McDonald combined with Jackson women to comprise one team that went 2-1 last weekend behind the scoring of University of Vermont ski racer McDonald (5 goals).

Speedy scorer McDonald tallied twice in a 3-2 victory over Park City. McDonald was limited to a single goal in a 5-1 loss to Jackson Hole's #1 team. McDonald (2 goals) led the way in a 4-1 win over Jackson #2.

Ashley Brown was solid in her position as sweeper and she also helped out as a goalkeeper for a half of one game. Dyer ran all over the midfield and played defense. Mills was versatile as well, playing midfield, defense and filling in as a goalkeeper.

The visit of the Lefty's men to Jackson Hole was marred by a compound fracture broken leg suffered by Trey Knox in the first game Saturday afternoon against Jackson Hole. Knox remained in the Wyoming hospital early this week.

Lefty's ended up winning the Jackson game in a shootout that was forced by a John Campbell regulation goal for a 1-1 tie. Making Lefty's goals in the shootout were Campbell, Cameron Lawler, Shaun Kelly and Raul Feneson. Austin McCann missed his shot. Lefty's goalkeeper Chatham Baker made two huge saves.

In a 4-2 loss to Logan (Utah), Lawler had a pair of goals. Lefty's also defeated Mexico 2-1 in a consolation game, Eric Hall accounting for one of the Sun Valley men's goals.
