I have been following the debate on the proposal for a cell tower at Galena. It is a given that if someone looks a certain way, at a certain distance, the cell tower might not look like a tree. It might not even be a pretty object in that observer's eyes. However, most of the "wilderness" is far from the tower and would not harm most people's sensibilities. Much more important is that its presence would probably save an injured person from enduring a long wait for rescue, and thus has the potential for saving lives.
This is a no brainer for me. Even the most ardent outdoorsman does not want someone to die, especially if it is so easy to provide a way that his or her life might be saved.
