KPD concerned about bike thefts

The Ketchum Police Department is concerned about a growing number of missing bicycles in the city.

Police spokeswoman Kim Rogers said Tuesday that 14 bikes have been reported as stolen in Ketchum since May 1.

"All the bikes are always unlocked, so that tells me, 'Lock your bike,'" she said. "It also tells me that they're not registered—register your bikes."

The Ketchum Police Department has a bike registration program to make identification of bicycles easier.

"It's important to know the make of your bicycle and any identifying marks on your bike," Rogers said. "Scratch a star or something on the bottom if you have to."

Meanwhile, in nearby Sun Valley, Police Chief Cameron Daggett reported that no bikes have been reported stolen from the city this summer.
