Lt. Col. William H. Poe II

William H. Poe II has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force.

Poe, a commander, is assigned to the Air Force Information Operations Center, Detachment 2, Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nev. The lieutenant colonel has served in the military for 16 years. He is the son of Barbara L. Brandt of Ketchum.

His wife, Mariah, is the daughter of Tom Kern of W. Hemlock Court, Chandler, Ariz., and Terry Kern of Connor St., Charlestown, Mass.

In 1987, Poe graduated from New Hampton Preparatory School in New Hampshire. He received a Bachelor's degree in 1992 from Daniel Webster College, Nashua, N.H. Lt. Col. Poe earned a Master's degree in 2004 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Albuquerque, N.M.

Named to the spring 2008 semester Dean's List (3.4 GPA or greater) at Tufts University in Medford/Somerville, Mass. were Tyson Reynoso of Bellevue, a member of the Class of 2009, and Sigrid Fostvedt of Ketchum, Class of 2010.

Brady Femling of Hailey, a student at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Ca., has been awarded a scholarship grant for his leadership, academic excellence and community involvement by the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation. He is a Wood River High School graduate. The Foundation provides 122 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for the 2008-09 academic year. Many recipients are children of graduates of the FBI National Academy.

Natalie Green of Hailey, a Wood River High School graduate, has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. Lehigh's 140th spring commencement was June 19 at Goodman Stadium in Bethlehem.

More than 6,000 students have been awarded a combined $22 million in scholarship support from the University of Idaho for the 2008-09 academic year. Recipients include:

From Bellevue—Charlie Lewallen, Clay Johnson, Daniel Ward, Hillary Elmore, Jesse White and Tasha Karst.

From Carey—Justin Dilworth, Katie Patterson and Shannon Roesbery.

From Ketchum—Aimee Loudenslager, Grayson Thompson and Kami Doan.

From Shoshone—Ian Ingram.

Among the 114 seniors graduating May 25 from Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Ct. was Jordan Pritchett of Ketchum. He plans to attend Denver University this fall. Jordan received the Founder's Medal, which honors young men who have served the prep school with distinction. He was also inducted into the Cum Laude Society.

Jonathan Dittmer, a junior from Hailey, was among 899 undergraduate students named to the Gonzaga University President's List (3.7 GPA or better) for the spring 2008 semester at the Spokane, Wash. college.

2000 Community School graduate Holly Sonneland of Ketchum graduate from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. in 2005 in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. After spending time in Bolivia working for the NGO, Partners of the Americas, she wrote last year for The Spokesman Review newspaper in Spokane, Wash. This past spring, she accepted a position as an editorial assistant for The Tico Times, an English-speaking newspaper in San Jose, Costa Rica. She has been given a chance to cover the soccer beat in Costa Rica. Recently Holly reported on a World Cup qualifying game between Costa Rica and Grenada.

Bob and Marie Berry, parents of Taylor Ernest Berry, are proud to announce his acceptance into the University of Southern California Dental School, Class of 2012.

Grayson Palmer, a sophomore sociology major at Colby College in Waterville, Me., was named to the Dean's List (top 30%) for her outstanding academic achievement during the 2007-08 spring semester. A Community School graduate, she is a daughter of Terence and Gretchen Palmer of Ketchum.

Ketchum's Josh Sonneland, Community School Class of 2003, graduated this past spring from Davidson College in North Carolina with a degree in Economics. He played for Davidson's NCAA Division 1 men's soccer team. Josh was on the Southern Conference honor roll for three years, and one year was named to the SoCon Academic All-Conference team. He was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society for Economics. Josh is now working for the asset management firm Alliance Bernstein in New York City.
