For whom the bell tolled

The one piece of heritage that was on the Heritage Street, formally Fourth Street, is gone. I'm referring to the bronze bell (no relation) that was in the Ketchum Grade School until the school was torn down to build Giacobbi Square. The bell had been hanging from the Giacobbi Square sign on the corner of East Avenue and Heritage Street for decades. The ring of the bell once called hundreds of grade schoolers back from recess to class so they could learn history and such. I don't know what happened to the bell, but isn't it ironic that it has been replaced by some kind of art thing made last year in China?
