A road rage incident in Hailey last week led to a Hailey man being issued a misdemeanor battery citation for allegedly pushing another driver to the ground.

Hailey police reported Monday that 28-year-old Ezekiel H. Herron was issued the citation following a confrontation with Donald E. Chapman, 45, also of Hailey, around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25.

Reading from the investigation report, Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Herron was allegedly tailgating Chapman while both vehicles were northbound on Main Street and "there were some kind of gestures being made in the vehicles."

Police said Chapman turned onto Pine Street, Herron followed him and both vehicles stopped. The police report stated that "more pleasantries were made" and "the victim was pushed to the ground."

Gunter said police were called to the scene when someone reported a fight in progress. He further said that Chapman was not seriously injured.
