Minibike mishap leads to injury

Victim treated and released at St. Luke’s

A 20-year-old Bellevue man was treated and released at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center last week after the front wheel fell off of a minibike he was riding in Glenbrook Drive in Hailey.

Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Alexander Schwab received "lacerations to his hands, feet and face" in the accident around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25.

"There were reports that he was unconscious momentarily before we arrived at the scene," Gunter said.

The police chief said that Schwab was apparently working on the minibike at a home in the area prior to the mishap.

"What we learned is they'd been working on it, the driver took it on a test drive and the front wheel fell off," Gunter said.

The police chief described the vehicle as a "Salem Racer minicycle."
