As summer settles in, Sun Valley Co. is looking ahead by focusing attention on what everyone hopes will be another banner season on its ski slopes. The resort is looking to sign up Nordic and alpine skiers early by offering ski passes at significant discounts through Monday, July 28.

There are two new passes being offered this year that will take the place of the 20/20 pass. The 30-day and the 20-day passes will allow skiers or snowboarders on the two ski mountains any day of the week with no date restrictions.

The 30-day pass, good for 30 days during the whole season, is priced at $1,200. The 20-day pass, also good for the whole season, costs $700. These passes can be combined with an early/late pass, which costs $180. That pass allows unlimited skiing during the early and late portions of the season.

"If you combine the early/late pass with either the 30-day or 20-day, the early/late will cost $150," said Jennifer Urhig, Sun Valley's ticketing manager. "There is an add-on button for that and for Dollar Mountain online."

The full season pass—priced regularly at $2,050 this year (an increase of $60 from last year)—is discounted right now at $1,900. The Alpine-Nordic combination pass, normally priced at $2,250, is currently discounted to $2,100. And the adult Alpine/Sun Valley Nordic & North Valley Trails combination pass is discounted to $2,200 ($2,400 regular). Free summer passes are included in all three of these pass prices.

Other discounted passes are the Sun Valley Nordic $225 ($250 regular season), Sun Valley Nordic/North Valley Trails Combo $375 ($425 regular season), Season Discount $60 ($160 regular season), Weekend Discount $30 ($50 regular season). A summer season lift pass is $250.

Students passes will cost $360—unchanged from past seasons—but are not available until tickets go on sale again in October.

Discounted passes can be purchased through July 28 at River Run Lodge, or online at sunvalley.com. Click on "The Mountain," then "Lift Tickets & Passes," then "Online Pass Sales."
