Get hotels moving

As we all know so well, over the past several years, we have seen an alarming downturn in vibrancy in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area. Retailers and restaurants are either closing or dealing with extreme economic challenges.

While Sun Valley Co. is spending millions to build a wonderful new golf course, an incredible pro shop/nordic center, a state-of-the-art concert/symphony venue and a new gondola that will transport us up to a completely remodeled Roundhouse restaurant, the rest of the community seems to be caught in a no-growth/not-in-my-backyard mindset. If this attitude is allowed to continue, our community will simply not survive. Ironically, and as luck would have it, we have a wonderful opportunity to turn this negative trend into a super positive.

Three hotels have applied to our city to build outstanding properties. This is truly not an opportunity that we want or can afford to walk away from. The visitors that these hotels would bring to our valley would provide our slumping economy a wonderful stimulus. Our retail, restaurants and other businesses would benefit greatly from such a surge in tourism.

Let's get the Warm Springs Ranch Resort, the Ketchum Lodge and the Hotel Ketchum moving forward as quickly as possible.
