Sun Valley Bancorp and First Bank of Idaho announced Monday that Everett S. Covington has been appointed chief executive officer beginning July 1.

Covington, with more than 35 years of commercial banking experience, has served as the bank's interim CEO since March of this year, board Chairman Wilson McElhinny stated in a press release.

"After an extensive search in which we interviewed several outstanding candidates, we decided that Ev is best qualified to lead the organization," McElhinny said. "He has a well-respected and exemplary background in founding, consulting, restructuring and managing financial institutions with assets in excess of $1 billion."

After working recently as the Southern Region president of Adams Bank and Trust, based out of Nebraska, Covington will take over First Bank of Idaho, a locally owned bank with branches in Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue.

The bank also operates under the name First Bank of the Tetons, with branches in Jackson and Wilson, Wyo., and Victor and Driggs, Idaho.
