Wood River Cup wraps up Saturday night

No race Wednesday, but series final is Saturday

Four Wednesday night race dates are in the book for a highly successful seventh season of the Wood River Cup short track mountain bike racing series. The final races, and the state championships, are scheduled for Saturday evening, June 28 in Hailey.

Remember, that means no racing tonight, Wednesday. But Saturday's start times for the series final remain the same—6:30 p.m. for the B Race for all Sport and Novice riders, 7:10-7:30 p.m. for Shimano youth riders, and 7:45 p.m. for Pros and Experts.

Saturday is the big night that will determine overall series winners as well as the Idaho State finals.

Races are held on the back side of Rotarun Ski Area three-and-a-half miles west of Hailey out Croy Canyon on the north side of the road. Registration opens at 5 p.m. Entry fees are $12, free for 12-and-under.

Warmer and drier conditions greeted last Wednesday's 98-racer turnout for the fourth of five events. But the course was as challenging as ever. Fast action, thrills and spills dominated at Hailey Bike Park.

Rebecca Rusch and Cody Peterson continued their mastery of the Pro/Expert women and men. Brian of KB's served food and drink out of the Sun Valley Road & Dirt "Snack Shack" followed by the post-Cup awards spilling out onto the deck at Wise Guy Pizza Pie in Hailey.
