Leslie Rogers

In loving fondness, we remember our dear mother. We deeply miss Leslie Rogers who died unexpectedly Saturday the 24th of May in San Diego, Calif. Born in Seattle, Wash., Leslie Janyce LeBeau decided to head for sunnier skies soon after she reached adulthood.

Leslie eventually settled much further south, along the Pacific Ocean, in La Jolla, Calif., where she began to raise her two daughters: Kimberly N. Rogers of Ketchum and Kerri L. Restaino of Nederland, Colo. Years later the mountains called her to Idaho and she introduced her girls to the wonderful life of a small town within the world-class ski resort Sun Valley. Our mother preferred a balance between the ocean and the mountains and we shared our time between the two.

Leslie was an adventurous woman who celebrated life every day. She believed in dreams and would set off to find them. Leslie would hear the call of the road and soon be off on yet another journey, and her experiences and exploits were legendary. She began trekking down to the Baja with her children when they were just toddlers, in a VW camper loaded to the gills, including our dog. Leslie never met a beach she didn't like.

Everyone who met Leslie remembers her as a dynamic, charismatic, gregarious and charming lady of many talents. She had twinkling, mischievous blue eyes and a big beautiful smile, usually accompanied by infectious laughter. She was fun and she was funny. Leslie was extremely generous and loved to share everything she held dear or special, including invitations to stay in her home, secret directions to a hard-to-find beach or recommending a less-well-known restaurant.

She spent the majority of the past couple decades living on the beach in Baja California Sur and traveling throughout Mexico, Central America and visiting her family and friends in the States.

Leslie has now gone to be with her God. We shall miss her dreadfully. Leslie did not wish to have a funeral or a memorial service held in her honor. Instead, her daughters ask that her friends remember Leslie with a toast at sunset, her favorite time of the day.
