Brooke Ellen Estelle Selisch

Brooke Ellen Estelle Selisch, age 16, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise after a car accident.

She was born May 28, 1992, in Medford, Ore., the child of Kurt and Gayle Selisch. Brooke participated in many childhood activities, swim team, soccer, basketball, gymnastics and skiing. She found her true passion in horses at the age of 8 and became a great rider. She rode both English and Western disciplines and saw her future profession as a horse trainer. She also spent a lot of time on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and was very comfortable in the wilderness.

Brooke was kind, beautiful and giving. She was non-judgmental and humble, rare traits for a 16-year-old. We love Brooke; her spirit will remain with us forever. We ask for all those who knew her, or knew of her, to practice kindness; she would want that.

Survivors include her parents, Kurt and Gayle, and her sister, Reid, all of Hailey; her grandparents, Walt and Jane Selisch of McMinnville, Ore., and Florence and Mickey Brazeau of Bend, Ore.; her extended family, Bobby and Teddy Bryan, Stacie Bryan, Brycen Bryan, Brittany Bryan and Kellie Bryan, all of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Renee and Mike Asher and Calvin Asher of Bend, Ore., Max and Suzzanne Selisch, Sam Selisch and Avery Selisch, all of Port Townsend, Wash.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Hop Porter Park in Hailey.

Memorial contributions are suggested in Brooke's memory to the Sawtooth Pony Club, Box 451, Hailey, ID 83333 or the Wood River High School Rodeo Team, 1250 Fox Acres Road, Hailey, ID 83333.

Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey, Idaho (www.woodriverchapel.com).
