Make somebody miserable

Fear and worship go hand in hand. Americans are being tamed by the sanctity of 'regulations,' 'statutes,' 'normal procedures' and 'just doing my job.' The altars are everywhere. Those who claim to serve us, have, en masse, turned into our daily abusers.

We're being pushed around by virtually every social institution we have. We are complicit in our own enslavement. Here are just a few offenders: all governments and their various agencies, federal to municipal. All their enforcement agencies. Ideologies. Landlords, leases, condo associations, apartment management companies. Banks. Drug/medical industry. Cable, phone and credit card companies. Schools. Airlines. Voice mail. TV talking heads. Technology. Utilities. Businesses. Bosses. Regulators. Supermarkets. Organized religion. Abusive personal relationships. The more I think about it, the longer the list gets.

The process starts the moment we wake, and continues uninterrupted throughout the day. It even intrudes on our dreams. So do something great today—stop being compliant mush. Make somebody miserable. Be responsible for once. Think. Stand up. Push back.
