Ice show shortens season, will debut July 4

11 shows instead of 15

Sun Valley Resort officials have always had a tough time filling seats for Sun Valley Ice Show performances in the early season, during June until the Fourth of July holiday, and after Labor Day/Wagon Days, through mid-September.

So they've decided to shorten this year's 72nd annual Sun Valley Ice Show season and thus concentrate on the high tourist season from Independence Day to Labor Day.

Ice show producer Lana Breazeale said there has always been concern about low attendance in June and September, adding, "I've had to give out a lot of tickets in the past. We finally said, let's just not do it."

Last year's season included 15 shows form June 9 to Sept. 15. This year, the Sun Valley Ice Show season will run 11 shows from July 4 to Sept. 6. Four-time world champion Kurt Browning will headline the July 4-5 holiday shows.

Other headliners include Sasha Cohen, Irina Slutskaya, Brian Boitano, Alissa Czisney, Ryan Bradley, Johnny Weir, Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto, and Evan Lysacek.

Ice show production director for a sixth year is U.S. professional world champion Frank Sweiding, and ice show director is Cory Lovoi. Visit sunvalley.com for updates.
