Nellie Bradley

On May 19, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law near Ketchum, Nellie Bradley passed away with the quiet grace with which she had lived her life.

Born in Oregon on Oct. 17, 1914, Nellie was the youngest child of Jacob and Catherine Rekers who had emigrated from the Netherlands. She graduated from Providence School of Nursing and completed additional training at Oakland, Calif.'s Children's Hospital and later supervised surgery at Providence Hospital in that same city.

In 1940 she married Judge John James Bradley who was prominent in legal and social circles in Solano County, Calif., where she lived until after she was widowed in 1991.

A most loving and attentive wife, mother and grandmother, she was devoted to the harmony and well-being of her entire family, including that of her late parents, as well as her brother and sister. She was faithful to her church and fervent in her belief in God. Though always diligent about her responsibilities, she shared her delightful sense of humor with her friends while always remaining a lady. Gracious and always grateful, she greatly influenced the lives of her children and grandchildren. She made her summer homes in Lake County, welcoming retreats to all that visited. Although she had traveled to several continents, in later years she most loved her extended stays with her children in Palm Springs, Hawaii and Sun Valley, Idaho.

A private memorial mass was recently held in her honor in California.

In addition to her siblings, Mary Rekers Eames and John J. Rekers, of California's East Bay area, she leaves her son, John Jr. of Palm Springs, and daughter Patti, and son in law, Dr. Robert Lindberg of Ketchum, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and Godson, her nephew, Dr. Douglas Rekers, and his children and grandchildren of the Sacramento area.

Her oldest grandson nicknamed her "Morey," and it became the name by which many knew and loved her.

The family asks that in lieu of other memorial gifts in memory of Nellie, gifts be made to Hospice of the Wood River Valley.
