Redfish triathlon adds another option

Duathlon now slated for June 21, too

Just in case the water is too cold for swimmers, organizers of the June 21 Redfish Lake Olympic and Sprint Triathlon have recently added two duathlon options to the new event.

The duathlons will feature running and biking, whereas the triathlons include swimming.

Race director Bart Davis of Hailey said, "We were preparing for a duathlon backup if the water temperatures at Redfish didn't get warm enough, so we just went and added it as an option for those non-swimmers out there.

"We are monitoring the water temperatures at Redfish and hope that the triathlons will occur as planned. But if they don't, we still will have a great day of racing in the most beautiful area of Idaho."

Calling itself the most scenic mountain triathlon in the world, the first Racing for Recovery Redfish Lake Olympic and Sprint Triathlon is set for Saturday, June 21 at 9 a.m. at Redfish Lake Lodge.

The two triathlon courses are an Olympic distance tri (1.5-kilometer swim, 40k bike, 10k run) and a sprint triathlon (500m swim, 20k bike, 5k run).

Now the Redfish Lake duathlons will also offer a short course (2-mile run, 20k bike, 5k run) and a longer course (5k run, 40k bike, 5k run).

Register now at active.com. Entry fees range from $60 for individuals, to $50 for 55 and over and ages 10-17, and $90 for a three-person relay.
